I would use speedco. Your main part to make that engine to come alive again is that fuel filter kit. And speedco has the technology that Detroit reccommends to prime those babies. Its safe and easier on your starter. Just make sure they go by the right process on that motor. Oil change 1st "crank up" shut off, verify oil dipstick, then change fuel filter kit

I do mine (DD16) every five hundred hours, close to 17,000 miles. But I sit in a lot of long lineups at times.

I run a Delo blend in my DD15 too, and have been happy with my samples. I lube at 15k and change oil at 30k.

I have seen this question pop up before. I think there is some confusion about synthetic oil. Whether its conventional or synthetic has nothing to do with extending your drain intervals. You change oil becase it's dirty and either one will get just as dirty in the same period of time. Do oil analysis like Cowpie to see where exactly you can push it to. Or might get an oil bypass system and keep it clean all the time.

Most post 2008 engines have oil change recommendations in the 50k range because they have a bypass filter already on the engine. A second bypass filter is unnecessary. It is an average number. As has been mentioned do oil analysis with a reputable laboratory NOT A TABLETOP UNIT like they use at Speedco. It is a waste of money to do oil changes more frequently than the oil analysis will dictate. Shorten it a little if it makes you feel better. The real problem is there are other systems on the truck that may need service more frequently than 50,000 miles (lubrications, damage inspections, other items.) Don't neglect them. You are still going to be under it just about every weekend.

Well true one reason is changing because it is dirty. But there are many other reasons. TBN depletion is one, as it controls acids that are generated by combustion. Also, viscosity changes due to oil shearing and cook off, both of which a synthetic does offer an edge over conventional.

Do oil analysis at CAT or send it in to Blackstone labs. Invest in oil bypass filter system if you dont have one.
