Hi all! I am the new owner of a 19’ Cascadia with a Detroit diesel dd15.
What oil are you guys running?
Detroit isn’t very clear on on it. 93k223 spec says FA-4 oils but 93k222 shows others.
What do you guys run?
15w40 or 10w30?
TIA
Quinn

You can run 15w40 all year round in that engine just fine, I have been in a -30 blizzard in Wisconsin and the DD15 started just fine with that grade oil.
-
x2 use 15/40 in my trucks, never had an issue
-
What is the justification for that? Why do you run 15/40 vs 10/40 for example?
assuming diesel blend for both. -
The justification for it is that it has worked in my experience, even in extreme circumstances that many might conclude that it would not work in.
I myself would prefer to use 0w40 or even 0w30 but those tend to be more expensive than many might care to pay for.REALITY098765 Thanks this.
