Debris In Trailer

You are. At least it's how I was taught. I hauled a lot of forklifts, I asked for those loads, as the freight rolls right off the back, but you really are responsible for everything in that trailer, including sweeping it out.

 

The way I see it you have to make a decision.
1) ask the receiver to do it, walks off laughing
2) call the shipper and ask them to send someone, walks off laughing even harder
3) call your company and as them to fly the designated trailer cleaning lady to your location, running away because I’m laughing so hard I don’t want anyone to know I pissed my pants
4) quit crying, put your big girl panties on and get it done so you can go get your next load.

I can’t decide whether anyone is this dumb or it’s an attempt at trolling.

you can ask if you can toss the trash into thier dumpster.

oh yeah, make sure you walk up and down that trailer looking for nails that you missed pulling up, cuz if your next load gets torn up..??

If you want the trailer, it's up to you. You're talking about maybe a half an hour's work, right? It's a common thing to have happen on a drop and hook. It leaves the problem for you to solve.
Let your dispatcher know...he'll make all kinds of sympathetic noises that don't solve the problem.

 

After he hangs up everyone in the office will talk about him and laugh for days until the next stupid call. But as sure as the sun rises in the east many days will come when they reminisce about dumb drivers and he will be mentioned every time.

As a guy who has received freight (and still does sometimes) I can tell you straight up I am not going to remove boards and nails from your trailer. I'll point out the dumpster for you to throw out the boards/nails and ask that you don't leave them sitting on the ground in the middle of the yard.

If we're not super busy I sometimes will help roll up straps or toss some boards out but a lot of times I've got a lot on my plate and just don't have the time.
