Thanks Chinatown. I appreciate the info. This is just what I'm looking for, good companies that may not be the biggest (just great to work for).
Ok, Regarding flats, you mentioned Melton and Cypress. Any particular reason not Maverick or TMC?

See who has apu's also... Some companies dock your pay for idle being to high, or at least they try to scold you like a 10yr old. I remember running doubles for Knight Trans from Dallas to Colorado, essentially took me 3.5 days to make it back to Dallas due to winter weather. I was stuck off us287, fleet manager had my name posted on "The Wall of Shame" for idle time. I was livid enough to give them my notice 2 week notice right then.

And train flatbed... I wish I would have! You can easily slide over to van/reefer from flatbed, not vice versa. I have 14yrs of experience but never ran flatbed, I've missed out on some great local job opportunities.

As for flatbeds, I've done that and you don't really get much excercise securing loads. You'd be better off just doing some brisk walking at truck stops or rest areas each day. With flatbed you might secure 1 or 2 loads a week running OTR so that's nothing as far as excercise goes. Not all loads tarp either.
