057AFB3E-2A5C-447A-A446-82355D02E3BC.png I’d like to hear some opinions about my current situation. I booked this Load Wednesday. Delivery set for Friday @ 4:00 pm. Specific instructions to not show up more than 30 minutes early. Also noted that delivery could take 24-60 hrs. Broker says he’s very familiar with the facility, and they’ll take me early if possible. Detention paid after 2 hrs. So I check in early @ 10:00 am. Guard says there are no appointments, everything’s FCFS. Takes my phone # and says they’ll call me. I ask how long will it be. She can’t say. I say “ I won’t hold you to anything, what’s normal? Come on you know!!” She says “ maybe a day”. Really?? Here I sit, 36 hrs later. Truckstops full of others waiting. Employees here say they’ve seen Truckers wait as long as a whole week. Lol. Unbelievable. I’ve figured out, since it’s the weekend, I’m stuck. No problem at $40 hr detention. Broker says detention up to 8 hrs. Layover pay after that, per Industry Standards. I think he said $140 per day maybe? I texted him that I didn’t sign up for Layover pay. Only detention pay. He obviously knew all along what the real deal was. I’ve let him know I’m not happy about any of it. He’s very sorry about my inconvenience. That just makes me want to set the whole trailer on fire, and BT home. Anyway, they slipped a whole new contract onto the Ratecon. I’ve read it throughout. No mention of Layover pay at all. I’d expected to find a Ryder or something special added to their standard contract. So my question is what’s considered standard industry practice? I’ve heard of such things as detention being turned into layover pay. Never had to deal with anything like this. I’ve gotten layover pay, usually on multi stop loads that couldn’t be completed in one day. Even then it was all upfront and expected and included in the Ratecon. Here’s the exact wording on the Ratecon.

There’s no way I would of taken that to begin with, but after 4 hours I would of left and bounced home, or at the very least to a hotel with a pool and bar and started the search again Monday

I’m loaded. Too late to cut and run. I’m in the dock now, got a call at 7:00 am. It’s my fault for taking it. No doubt. My mistake.

Hope something like this kicks in

Some i haul for collect detention, but say we’ll pay when we get paid.

They get their money, you gotta keep calling every day.
Now i won’t write any time down, i don’t get paid, they don’t get paid.
They used to get upset, i told them ‘welcome to the club’

Industry standard is $250 for layover. I have seen some brokers are trying to make it $150. Are you in Normal, IL by chance?

You know it. Driver in dock next to me loaded at Dana in Auburn Hills. He’s been here the same as me. We’re almost empty now. He says there’s a driver at Loves that’s been here since Tuesday.

I’d gladly layover as long as they wanted. They should pay me 39 hrs at $40 hr. $1560. Driver I’m commiserating with says they pay his company $500 on average for waiting. Different Broker, same scenario. Broker misrepresented the unloading times. His Ratecon shows up to 24 hrs to unload.

I don't go to that place, because I heard how insane it is, but my buddy took a load there, sat for 3-4 days and said broker paid him $500 per day, it was agreed on before booking. I think it depends on the broker.
