What year and model? DEF or just DPF?
-
Its 2013 kw T660 with Cummins isx15 def fluid.

There is one in the tank located on the end of the header for the tank. There is another one located on bottom of the def pump. They are both replace filters, not clean and put back in as far as I know. The big circle with lots of fins on it, that is the nut for it. I only changed them once I got a fault for them. The one in the tank is not fun to change. I would not change the one in the tank until after you change the one on the pump and only if you get fault codes for a restriction in the system would I change it. The one on the bottom of the pump is not bad to change at all. You will get DEF everywhere when you change that one.
mitmaks Thanks this. -
Sorry, not familiar with Cummins. I've been told by numerous people the key to Detroit's is changing the dpf filter every 200,000-250,000, cleaning to doc at that time and changing the site filter every year. Maybe Cummins is same principle?

Why isn't that the right way? It is nice that you say that but not say what is not right about it. He never specified what filter he was needing to look at. The SCR is not a filter, it is a catalyst.
-
That isn't right.
One should replace that filter yearly. -
I've actually never seen a service interval for that stated. Even in the owners manual for the trucks.
That wasn't so hard was it to actually type out a response to the statement stating that instead of just saying that it was right now was it? -
Sometimes you read something and want to respond but you do not have time for a long explanation.
