This is probably a stupid question but what is the difference between UPS and UPS freight? I have an interview at freight for city driver on Monday.

I can only speak for my area, but ups freight hires here for about 20/hr, and when ups hires(seasonal) they pay about 28/hr.

After visiting browncafe, I realized that I've never had so many questions about a company before. I thought with ups you would start off making at least 50k and go up towards 100 after some years. But I read something about 14 something an hour?!?!?! I can't do that right now. Does anyone know?

UPS (or UPS Ground) is the side that deals with delivering packages to your front door with the brown trucks. All the big trucks are working to support that, and the majority of it is doubles running terminal to terminal, although they do run other combinations as well. They are also the ones that do the seasonal hiring around Christmas time. Most are union, so you'd have to start at the bottom and work your way up, but I think that there might be a few non-union locations out there (not 100% sure on that one).
UPS Freight is the LTL side of it. Lots of doubles and lots of guys running trailers for local pickups and deliveries. They are all union and it's a pretty good job.
UPS Freight Truckload runs more like what we expect of a normal trucking company, although they deal with a lot more dedicated customers than most companies would. Jobs vary from having you home daily, to being out more than a month at a time, running vans, doubles, and flats. They are not union, but are close enough to the LTL guys that they get to reap the benefits of some of the stuff the union guys fight for.
I've worked for regular UPS and UPS Freight. Great jobs if you can follow some simple rules and policies. I'd still be there if my circumstances hadn't forced me to leave. -
The United Postal Service is supported by tax payers money & is deep in debt going even deeper in debt & the United Particle Service is making money.
