I actually found it easier to eat healthy on the road than I do now that I am off the road.

For me, I would fill my truck with healthy food and snacks, so my choices for something to eat or snack on was between this healthy snack or that one. Also, I use to take a ensure or booster on the road with me, usually the chocolate flavor, and would have one in place of a meal, filled me up like a fast food burger but with more nutritional value and less calories.

Now that I am home, I keep healthy snacks and such in the house, but unfortunately also some not so healthy ones, so now I have to consciously choose healthy, which I don't always do. Also, there are so many other temptations and opportunity for a less than healthy meal. Going out with friends for dinner where tempting appetizers are ordered, the meal, then more temptation for dessert... in all my time out trucking no once did anyone ever walk over to me with a tray of delicious looking desserts and ask me if I wanted one.

But, I do also know, that had I not packed my truck with healthy food and limited myself to that.. it would of been easy to just East the fast food or truck stop food..

Eating healthy has to be a choice that one makes themselves choose.. and make it possible for them to eat.

Kidney disease is not a death sentence...dialysis is more mentally tough, but physically? All it does is what your kidney can not.
Medicare and SSI is AUTOMATIC for kidney failure...only the six month waiting period, during which time you can work...best to walk in to your local social security and ask questions about Medicare and SSI.

I am close to a driver that also tested positive for a kidney issue. 2nd opinion verified first and his body rejects his kidneys over time. As a result he is not eligible for donor kidneys either. A good diet and proper care he has been driving 5 years now. He still has both kidneys and gets blood drawn every 6 months to keep up on it. so far so good. It can be done. It will mostly depend on what the kidney problem is. Not all are career ending.

The reason I said my position stems from my life, medical advances makes some things possible for me now. That was NOT possible for my parents or their parents and so forth on back.

There are two new generations after me in the family. They are enjoying things that we never had.
