There is a strange anti-union sentiment within the trucking industry, but then I consider that the billionaire propaganda has worked, and now they're reaping what they've sown.
The average truck driver IS an anti-social low-skilled steering wheel holder, because that's all they can attract to the industry now that they've driven average wages so low.
Behold your barren field and the pestilence within your house. You'd better hope that driverless truck technology happens yesterday, because allowing 18 year-olds into the industry AIN'T the answer.
But I'm just a dumb uneducated billy big rigger. What could I possibly know?![]()
Do 40-50 hour weeks, hourly pay, and home nightly jobs exist?

The old breed at Walmart was famous for being paid minimum wage and then seeking state and federal benefits to supplement their income to stay afloat.
Actually, much to my mid-post surprise, that's still going on.

So if businesses haven't kept up with wages to counteract inflation, what are we supposed to do?
Oh, I know! We'll spread around some billionaire propaganda memes about how lazy the new breed is!
Question who makes your memes JUST AS MUCH as who makes your news. It's all indoctrination and propaganda.
At the end of the day, we need to value ourselves a little more and leave that "I'm a hard-working man" stuff on the back burner until we find a company that's EARNED that hard work. -

I work 40 to 60 hours a week, Paid hourly plus overtime after 40, home almost every night, and have weekends off most of the time... Some times a few hours on a weekend to make a delivery, but rarely.

Yes they do. I had a Monday- Friday. No weekends unless you want to and they had something. 45-55 hours per week. Decent hourly wage but the one thing that made it just ok was NO overtime. Thats why I used it as temporary job. They actually have a lot of employees that have been there many years just because they like the consistent m-F schedule.

They absolutely exist! You’ll just never see them advertised. I work for a small 25 truck fleet with full benefits. I work *maybe* 30 -40 hours a week, Mon - Fri. I start around 7:00 am, give or take a few minutes, and I’m home most days by 3:00 at the latest. And, I make around $65k - $70k a year.
This year I made $60k and I was off the rest of the year starting a week before thanksgiving. Actually , today was my first day back to work. Lol
Edit: I’m trying to retire, but every time I bring it up, the boss just says “how about just working 4 days a week, which is what I’ve been doing for a bit.
p.s. I keep telling myself I’m going to retire, but he keeps enticing me to stay by cutting my hours. LolBadmon, ibcalm19, Speed_Drums and 3 others Thank this. -

Oh yes they’re out there. It’s just that nobody on this thread is going to tell you where because if we ever find them we’re going to snatch them up. Most local stuff I know is long hours and working weekends. That’s why I got my own truck and run local. I work when I want, how I want, for as long as I want. And since I stay in my 150 mile radius, no Elog for me.
