I agree that a good dispatcher is the key. I think a prereq to dispatching should be former driver. The dispatcher we had in Charlotte, Jeff, sucked! My dog knew more of what was happening then he did. He blew alot of smoke up your butt. We are with a decent company now, G & P in Columbia SC is main terminal. We run out of Greer, SC. I am a driver with a mediocre work record, and this company is chasing me like an ugly chick desperate for a lay. Granted, they want me to be okay with a lousy 750 a week. They also want me to be okay with not being able to use my cpap machine (idle our truck and we'll fire you, but we won't install an apu!). I am ignoring any offers from BFI (bottom feeder inc), especially after my stint at de Boer. I lost my shirt driving for them (32.5 cpm hhmg) and BAILED when Roehl offered 40 cpm practical. So if that makes me a job hopper, TOUGH ####!

Here's the other thing though, my new machine draws only 90 watts and i can run it with a 150watt inverter which doesn't kill the batteries, there are even models designed to run on 12v power now.
Oh, and btw, don't go to work for big red. -

I have been with Knight since Aug 12 and have made a little over 10k net been driving the same in miles every 3-4 weeks out , Our trucks have to get a or b services every 10k miles, Iv yet to even to put in wipper fluid the shop guys are good,
As with every trucking company you get a high mile truck to start and need to get it fix up my 1st truck had bad drive tires no jake brake and got hot, got my first 1000 mile put it in the shop.
Got a 09 volvo 78k good all around did not get 50 mile out had computer problems I was pissed and had to get back to phx wait 2 more days for shop but was given $240. for the loss of the 3 days, and its been good the last 30k
I drove for DSW before Knight never made money or got brake down pay was a slip seat driver trucks had 500k or more Knights was great coming from DSW I drive my truck home now get paid by 6pm when I get fax in before 10am tho dispatch takes forever to get a hold of always have to do a local load to get a real load and trailers can suck to find sometime
But I get x bucks for local plus the miles and miles looking for empty are put on the load, any pay problems are always fix next day if its not a weekend they do need to quite the 3 battery BS mine are bad now need to get them changed as winter is here.
As for Knight the Evil Company Id have to say not what Iv seen ,they seem to care about the drivers always ask where I want to go next , pay lumper fee upfront front tolls as I had $400.
One week keep getting 100 dollar comdata check sent all in all Id have to say its where you come from for me Knights has been good but I am looking I know their is better as of now I have a 9 months of a dot record and never went to school so I was lucky to get on with DSW did 6 month so the move to Knight was a step up for me.
Who every you bashers are must have had some dream driving job that you never had to wait to be loaded or unloaded never had a pay issue drove the finest trucks that had tires that never lose air and made it home daily with the best pay, so what happen why did you quit and come to Knight where you have to drive to make money.
Next time you people bash any company tell us how good your last job was and why on earth you left it, like I said I'm always looking and like to fill that sweet seat you left behind . -
