I just don't have any desire to own my own truck right now. Besides by this summer this I'm done driving to go into being a diesel technician for which I went to school for. The only reason I jumped back into a truck was no was hiring due to the economy.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I will comment on the fact that not everyone gets into trucking with the idea of owning their own truck. When I think back on what my family would have had to sacrifice so I could own my own truck, I think I made the right decision not to own a truck. I've seen plenty of o/o's that their truck is their biggest asset, not their house, 401k, ESOP, or other savings plan.

Did I take the "easy way" well, yes maybe I did, but my family and I have never regreted it.:biggrin_25525:

Geeze guys, why don't we argue about whose **** is bigger or who can piss the greatest distance?

There is nothing "wrong" with owning your own truck. There is nothing "wrong" with being a career company driver! It is up to each individual.

What I DO see something wrong with, (and admittedly, it is from a totally biased opinion,) is for someone to come in here and sing the praises of a bottom feeder company, and throw stones at folks who have BTDT and actually tell it like it is.

I'm sure that Knight works very well for some people. I ran into a (very) few million milers in my time at Knight. So that sort of proves that it works for some folks.

OTOH, the combined experience of the majority of posters here cannot all be put down to "whining drivers." That is a patent insult and totally without justification. Particularly when those drivers have gone on to have a successful career with another company.

Like the old saying what works for you might not work for me & vice versa. That's one of the unique things about this industry, where u have so many options to choose from and still drive a truck.

All these 200 mile days are makin ya delerious man!

Have you ever really heard a driver complain about not getting paid to slide tandems? I haven't but I've heard plenty complain about driving a 100+ miles looking for an MT trailer and the classic and popular "wher'd ma reimbursements at?"

Or walking around for a few hours at a DC looking for one, or driving to multiple places to do the same thing, cleaning and inspecting just to get a message ... "due for AA service" drop it here ...

I had a couple of trucks on with Knight as an 0/0, they treated me well, paid ontime and was accurate most of the time. I got home when I asked to get home. My dispatcher was the TM and she know how to dispatch an 0/0.

So, I dont know about company but, for an 0/0 at least for me it wasnt all that bad.

If you get someone that has a burr under their saddle,, ask for another saddle, dont take the pain and let the tiny sore turn into a major rash...
