I move over about 95% of the time. I'll throw my signal on as soon as I see the vehicle on the shoulder and I swear people are oblivious to it.
Just the other day, I had to merge left for the right lane ending. Turn signal on for a good bit, waited for an opening, merged on in. As I'm almost done with my merge a big truck swerves at the last second then gets on the radio and says "#### driver why not use those mirrors". Pissed me off because he was texting away (his phone was up to his steering wheel) and after telling him what's up (a ###### radio setup and some loud pipes will make anyone cry....) I thought:
If there was an accident on the shoulder, or anything for that matter, this idiot would have been clueless.
The amount of clueless drivers out on the road amazes me. I know we all have our moments, but the ones that are looking at their phone hauling ### past you when your on the shoulder deserve to have their license revoked. That's my thought at least.
But yes.... move over and ASK if you are okay and do you need help.
Do you move over?

Always - even if I have to squeeze the dumb 4 wheelers over to do so.
I've been broke down on the side of the road and it's scary.
It's a very good argument for why governed trucks shouldn't inch by each other, and for leaving plenty of following distance.G13Tomcat, Ougigoug, Chewy352 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I move over as a matter of courtesy.
This is becoming law in more and more states, including MD and DE.brian991219, americanmadetrucker, Big_D409 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I was just about to type this. Same here. I dont bother if they dont even have flashers on at least. Trucks park on the shoulder without these are treated as abandoned vehicles. Oh well

^^^^ @MooneyBravo , good thread. To all the others above; good input...for the most part. Especially with triangles out. Then again; saw a driver passed out from sugar about a year ago on 75 on way to Toledo. He couldn't put his hazards out; obviously. Yes, I merged a lane....then stopped and backed on the shoulder.
Me personally, he{{ yea if and when ever possible (or i make it possible even if I've gotta slow for the 4w's).
Whatever happened to courtesy?!? <<don't get me started on THAT one; it's in another 10 threads!>>
Be safe, drivers. Be courteous, and fire up the CB and quit texting!Flipflops, Big_D409, MooneyBravo and 1 other person Thank this. -
If ya got yer triangles out, I'll get over, or if I can't, slow down and ride the zipper.
For every 20 vehicles on the shoulder, one has a legit breakdown and the other 19 are getting a beach ball out of the trunk or some other inane task. Bouncing out every 5 miles gets real tiresome, especially in a 65 mph truck.bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
Exactly. I'll always try to get over if traffic allows but I'm a #### 62mph truck and merging back and forth isn't an option lots of times so I slide over as far as possible and hopefully traffic doesn't side swipe me.Longarm Thanks this.

it's not just truck drivers but cars too.every year the display of rude and bad drivers are getting worse.People don't care anymore.I always move over and if i can't I slow down to a crawl as I'm passing the disabled vehicle.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
-
you wanna be careful when sliding over folks don't know how to stay in their lanes.
-
I move over every single time, it's just good and professional form to do so.
-
I always move over when I can, or slow way down, or squeeze as far left in my lane as I can when the idiot next to me won't move. Amazes me how many people act like they don't see what's going on. Also can't believe how many stupid drivers will pull over on the side of a busy interstate to water a tire or make a sandwich rather than go another half mile to the next exit.
KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
