I doubt that's the justification for them having the hardhat, but it does seem silly to require one when what we're dealing with could crush our bodies into a red pancake on the ground... hardhat or not.
Especially when it's >30C/85F outside.
One steel mill I go to has some of the strictest regulations (long pants and sleeves, regardless of weather, safety goggles, etc) but no fall restraint systems for people tarping loads. MAKES NO SENSE.spax Thanks this. -

Great, now we're gna argue about headache racks for the next few weeks.
I don't like the headboard, gets in the way but headache rack makes thing easiers. -
Sounds like one of the mines I go to. Heck this mine actually has standards set in place as to the proper type, size and location of your reflective stripes. And they tell you what kind of boots you have to wear (apparently CSA approved with 6" heel is no longer good enough).
