I do it everyday. Do a post trip too. Always have, always will. Hell I even do a walk around and light check on my car before I go to work.

Same truck and wagon everyday. Do a good walk around everyday and do an in depth crawl under her and check everything once a week or so

I do a pre trip everyday when I’m driving trucks in the summer. Even though I’m always in the same truck.

I pre trip my skid steer in the winter for plowing. Just check fluid levels and go, mechanic greases it.

last thing I want to do is ruin a motor or 70k dollar skid steer because there is no oil.

Years ago back when the Georgia Public Service Commission was the state MCSAP agency the PSC did a lot of the enforcement. A good family friend told us almost laughing he could sit in his car in either the north or southbound scales on I-85 and look. When you run a regular route the DOT know it. Heck there was a guy that run a local package pickup amd delivery who almost always seem to have a light out. Remember, the pre/post trip is not so much legally required. However running with defective equipment is illegal. They can and sometimes do make a case.

I usually do a visual check for leaks and broken stuff, tire check and lights every morning and usually the under hood check once a week. I own my rig and have a decent faith in it.

When its -30 out I'm pretty lazy so I usually just wake up and start the truck and let her warm up.

All the pre-trip requires is that the driver be satisfied in the safe operation of said item. You don't even need to log it. It's just nice to show you did it 15 minutes before driving.

Im a believer in doing a thorough end of day inspection. Then in the morning a quick walk around checking lights and tires.

Today I saw a driver rolling through the truck stop with his trailer brakes on.

then 5 minutes later I’m parked in my skid steer and some crst driver comes running up asking me to move because a he wants to park there when there was plenty of spots.

Y’all otr guys are a mess! Haha been years since I’ve seen truck stop antics, I guess it never changes.

OTR is insanity you got to be crazy to do it hence that's why I'm in it. I'm guessing the spot you had was either a straight line or closes to the store.
