You initially stated that it depended on the nature of the offense in an earlier post. I agree that he might not have much to worry about if it's not a theft-related offense.Freightboy Thanks this.

Why not apply to an Armored Car company hauling cash?

As alluded to, just try. You lose nothing by trying. The worst they can do is reject you, and that's not a loss because you'll live to get rejected again. It only means that you have to find a job that will overlook your felony. There are jobs that will take you if its not murder, rape or trafficking, but you can't be picky.

From the little bit of research that I did..
Estes deals with it on a case by case basis…older is better.
You will need a hazmat endorsement so I would try getting that if you don’t have it already. Would be one less hurdle and one less reason for them to toss out your application.
Apply, don’t hide anything or give evasive answers.. and sell, sell, sell yourself if you really want it.
I worked for a company that hired two guys fresh out on parole for 2nd degree murder..wasn’t an Estes type job but a good job nonetheless. Unfortunately both of them were gone quite quickly..one laid the truck and milk trailer over while talking to the safety manager on the phone, lol. The other I don’t recall what happened.OlegMel Thanks this. -
As @Opus said - it’s a trust issue, you’ll be in possession of valuable cargo, so a theft charge would likely be a disqualification.
Get your hazmat - but there are disqualifying felonies that apply there too.
Are you willing to disclose the felony charge? -
That’s going to be the number one hurdle at any LTL, the hazmat endorsement.snowlauncher, Toomanybikes, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this.

Theft, Drug, and Vehicular charges of any kind are big red flag in this industry.
I have met plenty of folks with a felony, but none with those types of convictions in this industry.
A gross misdemeanor with a hint of those types of charges will have a tough time.
This should be self explanatory, but for some reason this does not get through to some career counselors or job seekers.snowlauncher Thanks this.
