I run a tanker, and end up in tight security sites, and many pipes and hoses all over the place. These places usually have strict safety rules, and no grass for fido to stretch his legs. And being fenced in, no chance to sneak him out for a pee. Also, I do alot of sitting for lab results and that can be hours long.
But, we have a few drivers that do have dogs with them. I just don't know how they do it?
Heck, we go places that won't allow facial hair...... what, shave my dog too?lol.

The dogs are very obedient.... My concern is being seen from the truck to the car when I drop the truck off for the weekend

Just something to consider. I was in Jersey Sunday unloading and the driver in the door next to me had a larger dog. She had left to go into the receiving office and the dog got excited when someone walked nearby, and activated the power door locks. She was locked out, early on a holiday Sunday morning, with no phone, no qualcomm, and with a newer truck where getting in is very difficult for even the more experienced locksmiths.

I had to leave. I felt for her and worked with her to let her use my phone but had to leave and not sure how she made out but I'm sure it was costly and very distressing for all involved and I imagine she was there at a minimum of 6 hours waiting for someone, anyone, to come through.

So, the moral of the story is Never never, never leave the truck without the keys if a dog is inside.

EDIT: Also, you don't have to have power locks for getting locked out to be a real possibility. In fact, conventional locks could be more of a potential problem for lockout if a dog is inside and roaming around from window to window.

That is some of the better advice I have read on the subject. I do that in the pickup but my truck is so old no power locks. I would like to add another consideration its always a tuff choice. If you leave your dog in the truck and go in eat shower mill around etc should you lock the dog in or not. My thinking is in the rare event of the truck catching fire or some event similar they cannot be let out you may not can be alerted. However they may can be let out and truck burglarized its a tough decision. Its a lot tougher with a dog than without as the non animal lovers should be considered and not inconvenienced with your pet. Its there right honestly. The safety and well being of the pet needs considered, it effects or limits a lot of small things most don't care about. Be honest with your self does your dog show any aggression at all no matter its size please don't lie to your self and say I can handle him/her not always the case. Not all can take the small confines of a cab could make them change behavior. Me letting my dog run a muck and crap in the lot is no different than a driver blocking the fuel island so to speak. Be sure you and the dog can really do it.
