Oh boy... Going down memory lane here LOL. Guy was a forum member years ago. He was a total bonehead who had all sorts of mishaps but a lot of people were rooting for him and tried to help him. He got fired from one of the megas and eventually got on with Melton as sort of a second chance, but it didn’t last long. They put him in a hotel while his truck was in a shop for repairs. He got hammered at the hotel bar and posted ALL ABOUT IT on this forum. One way or another the people at Melton found out about it and you can guess how that worked out for him.

Any large company has the resources to employ some people to just watch the forums and social media.

These days it should be expected, but people just don't seem to get it.
Big Brother is not an organized government entity like in 1984 (well, I guess that is debatable), but it is a mishmash of much the same thing in many large companies.

What is really amazing is that so many people who are so into social media don't even consider the possibility that they are being watched by someone in their own company.

I'd forgotten all about that. I just looked some of that up, it was 6 1/2 years ago! There were like three or four different threads and they would have hundreds of posts a day. I couldn't keep up and lost interest pretty quickly.

I wonder what dopey is doing for work these days. He must be about 27 or 28. Hopefully he's not in a job where other people's safety is his responsibility.

OP, here's what I would say about Melton. I never drove for them but saw them often when I was a flatbedder. Most of their drivers seemed like good hands. Never saw any of them hauling sloppy loads. I think they will train you right, especially if you really want to learn how to do flatbed.

I did talk to them once when I had some experience and was looking for a better job, but decided to go to System Transport instead. System ran more western so it was a better fit for me. Melton kept sending me emails for four or five years after that. Their pay was competitive with other megas at the time (7 or 8 years ago).

As others have said, if you want to learn flatbed there's a lot of help available on this site. I miss working outdoors and I miss the exercise but I don't miss flatbedding too much. I am glad I had that experience though. Good luck!

Well, he's the one that made all his stupidity public, so it's hard to feel sorry for him. Whatever happened to her anyway? She's from Sioux City so I always wondered if I knew people she knows.

Didn’t see the thread so I’m at a disadvantage. On the other hand, I’m glad my company could care less what I do off the clock. No bottle to throttle rule. As long as we are in compliance with DOT regulations and make it to pickups and deliveries on time management leaves us alone.
