Others have noted the oil industry will start to pick up again, but the latest entrails from the sacrificial chicken indicate sometime next year. You live in Louisiana. Lots of oil jobs in your state. My company headquarters are in Louisiana. If you want to get into flatbed to oil rigs shoot me a PM.

 

He's driving bulk for SNI now, @Lepton1 .... that much I know. That's just WOW and awesome if you can get him into Flatbedding. It's the most respected line in the biz, as far as I'm concerned. I relegate to doing some in the winter, as opposed to Unemployment and I thank God I have that option, but at my age year round would be reprehensible to my old ###.
My wife, who's many years younger, LoL..... wants to do boards.... so she thinks. @Thull imho will be a great potential for that, I agree. He's young like you~!~

Here is a good laugh for you, I am a few credits away from a Masters in......Constitutional Law. Not many jobs out there unless you like appellate courts, and not something just anyone wants to discuss over dinner, and you can't pick up chicks with it.

 

Bud fact is that, if you just want to be a driver then it's a dead end job no one will pay a driver buck a mile today with 10 years of experience.
You can get decent living on driving job to make more money you gotta shift gear like we all do to gain speed get some experience buy your truck then trailer if you understand the business and have potential multiply it.
That how I see my self help in 5 years.
