I think Victor_V works or worked there - you might want to PM him . . . . he might be here shortly.
I'm going to assume you've read the company info on them in the forum, and looked at their website . . . ? -
Joseph1135 is who you should talk to,he works for Gordon.I think they do hire rookie drivers.Victor won't give you any positive feedback,Joseph will because he likes the company.
paul_4lp and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Can't imagine Vic not giving positive feedback on any topic . . . .?

Not true, pattyj!
The situation at Gordon has changed dramatically. Acquired by Heartland. See: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...d-express-inc-acquires-gordon-trucking-7.html
I've had long-running 'issues' with some over the miles to expect at Gordon. Cheerleader claims of miles and miles and miles were not typical except for a select few on the US Fleet, for example. Because Heartland is publicly traded, their new disclosures show that Gordon was a short haul carrier all along, over 25% of loads under 100 miles and 40% 100-400. In fact, only about 8% of Gordon loads exceed 1000 miles. But because Gordon was privately held, cheerleaders could claim ANYTHING. Now they can't.
The truth is out and public record. Gordon = Short haul carrier.
Makes me feel very vindicated. 65% of loads under 400 miles. Which is just what I've said all along. Gordon never was a big long haul carrier.
This might be a GOOD time to apply with HTLD/GTI since some drivers may not want to work for HTLD. But expect some turbulence ahead if hired. The policy going forward is 'keep the best, get rid of the rest'. HTLD has a better CSA score for HOS and Vehicle Maintenance than Gordon and GTI's was excellent. Gives HTLD a big, nationwide footprint.
You would want to talk to a GTI recruiter, though. HTLD still requires one year experience. GTI's student program will continue. The small reefer fleet (14%) will continue. Teams (3-5%) will continue. Gordon is considered 'picky' about what CDL schools they accept so would be smart to talk to a recruiter ASAP.Last edited: Nov 13, 2013

If Gordon does accept you for its student program, for 4-6 weeks you will have a 5-year experience level trainer certified through GTI's trainer academy in the shotgun seat while you drive. That will give you a great start.
Because HTLD runs PeopleNet and GTI runs with QualComm, communications will run side-by-side until they decide which system to take company-wide. Duplicate drop yards and terminals will be consolidated.
GTI drivers have a new CEO, HTLD chairman, president and CEO Mike Gerdin. The smurf-blue trucks and Gordon decals will remain (at least for now) but the acquisition liquidated Gordon Trucking.Last edited: Nov 13, 2013

Thanks and I seen heartland bought gti out and I know they ask for a year I found that gti does do training but now idk and thanks hopefully I can get more info
-
I tried GTI and was turned down. Recruiter said I have to live within 50 miles of a terminal.
-
I don't know about that I'm going into orientation Monday and I live about 75 miles from nearest terminal
-
I live 400 miles from any terminal. . When were you told that?
