Does pulling a tank wagon, fueling up equipment count as fuel hauling experience?

I was called for a interview for a class B tank wagon position. It's fueling up equipment and loading fuel from the fuel racks. But I wouldn't be putting it into the ground. Does that count as fuel hauling experience even though it's class B work and not going to gas stations?

Trying to see if it's worth my time at that company, or wait until something else pops up.

If the money is right, go for it.
Most companies don't recognize Class-B driving as experience for Class-A trucks. Some will though after an interview and road test.

If your end goal is Gemini Motor Transport (or similar) -- I don't think class B experience will get you there.... especially in the current CDL job market.

Pulling a class "A" sized trailer...& experience with filling underground tanks will be fundamentals they will be seeking.

Also: if/when you leave your current gig -- I think later on...that you will miss the incredible money you are now presently making.

To get the initial fuel experience that you are seeking -- you most likely will take a stiff pay cut. :( :sad3:

Thanks Lula, This class B job will be a major pay cut as they don’t pay OT after 40. I was trying to see if it would be beneficial if I took it. I guess I’ll pass on it then.

My current gig pays decent, but Gemini pays more overall. I’m finishing out the year at 102k gross. More like 90k since I’m including my flights to and from work.

I’ll be honest, I’m close to giving up on this fuel hauling goose chase. Keep hitting brick walls after brick walls.

If you’re class A fuel hauling now, and the end goal is Gemini, I’d hold tight - dropping to a Class B won’t help the journey.

I know a guy that does refueling in Chicago. He’s happy and it pays good, but he’s not looking at returning to class A work.

I have a job alert set up for Gemini - if one comes up locally I would probably apply. The driver I talked to here was talking $110k without much overtime, home daily.

1st of all, that fueling equipment job sounds like a decent gig. No pressure or road hassles, by the hour, take your time, but I don't think it counts as actual fuel hauling. Probably 90% of hauling fuel is dealing with road situations, weather, or handling a loaded tanker in traffic, stuff you probably won't encounter in the fill-up job. If you are even remotely thinking of a job like that, by all means get the Class A CDL. Pretty sure you can drive anything with a class A, but not t'other way 'round.

NGL id call back maverik and see if they would still take you. Pilot in my area is still looking for a long hauler (out 5 back 2) and they HAVE hired for non experienced out of state drivers before. You will make over 100k, 32/hr with OT after 40, and they pay you $40 a night youre in the sleeper. 3k sign on bonus to boot cause no one wants to live in boring WY lol. Give it a look:

Tartan might also be an option to get your foot in the door if you don’t have anywhere you need to be for a few weeks at a time. I think they’re out 4-6 weeks or so, filling in where Pilot is short trucks. I see them a lot running out of Doniphan and North Platte going up to South Dakota.
