Understanding we have a lot of newbie drivers you need to realize there are a lot of new computer jocks sitting behind a desk thinking up ways to save money. When in reality many times they actuallly are costing USA more money. The CJ is not taking into account construction, weather and truck restrictions. Granted some new drivers are dependent on following their GPS, and when you put the two together you spell disaster. I strive to teach trip planning, calling 511, checking weather, but if the student doesn't do it there is nothing you can do. But I'll wager he/she doesn't take that road twice if they have to backup 2 mls. The CJ on the other hand won't learn anything and continue to send people that way.
As far as fuel prices go, USA has negotiated prices at specific fuel stops. All drivers have the book and can pick where they want to stop without going out of route. No need to pay multiple planners to do that.

You don't need multiple planners. It's just a program that tells a route suggestion with fuel stops along that "suggested" route. Yeah tell your students to ONLY use gps to get an idea as to how far you have to get to customer. That's the ONLY reason I even use my gps. Then again, we go to so many of the same places I already know where to go and what route is best! I think it's really funny how, when I started at USA going to all these places...then leaving 3 months later for my current employer, and showing up at the same place in a different truck....they were like, weren't you here with a different company? haha but, turns out USA lost some customers to my current company...oh well....we all win some and lose some.

Yes that's how it goes. You know with as much concern you have for USA and with as much time you spend in the USA forums I believing that you are really missing this place and all the great people you left. That's so sweet that you feel that way. I'm sure if you left on good terms and continue to maintain a good driver record that they would hire you back. Then you wouldn't have to miss us anymore. Of course though you'd have to learn how to do paper logs correctly.

My good weekend at home got interrupted with a call from Joe the night supervisor last night informing me that my home load going to Laredo for Monday delivery would be taken by someone else. Lose 400 plus miles for the week and does not even replace it with another load or offer too. Not a happy camper about this

Every dark cloud has a silver lining. You got to spend more time at home. Now you can wait until they come in Monday morning and they figure out your next load. That's always better than having the weekend crew do it.
Laredo? Where's that? I've been up and down the 95 corridor so much lately I'm beginning to smell like seafood. Going into the company store next time I get down there and see if I can buy just the right half of the map book.
If I ever get west of I35 again it will be like Columbus discovering america all over.

Yeah I hope so, I live in Dallas so I get to Laredo frequently, only gained 4 more hours of home time out of this deal, just hate it when weekend people get in their and undo something my fleet manager had me on and we discussed the plan for delivering etc etc

Yeah mine told me that guy was a a hole and didn't know what was going on,all he saw was the load was on the Dallas Yard, sad part is Joe the supervisor wouldn't even let me explain I was on home time and was taking it to Laredo today, he cost me money and all I got was a ten mile load to deliver to Irving in return for Joes ignorance

My God are you funny! Jeez, I'm laughing soooo hard at that! LMFAO OK, first off...I'm NOT the only EX-EMPLOYEE to come to the USA forum! And why would I give up a higher paying job to come back to USA(McDonald's) payrate? WOW! You have NO IDEA what company I left USA for! And if you are a trainer, can't you name some training coordinators? Heck, I was only there for 3 months and know Kathy and Carol! My former trainer, there at USA, knows THEM ALL! He's on here ALOT! Don't TRY to put your money where your mouth is.....keep up them miles, because I can drive less miles than you and STILL make more!
