I got my cdl thru swift in SLC Ut. Trained with two mentors, then got my own truck and they put my home terminal as Gary Indiana what a toilet!!!! After about 3wks on the road I called in to wknd dispatch and advised them I could no longer drive at nite until I got glasses,it was 3more wks before benefits started so I paid for eye exams and glasses out of my own pocket,it took me 4 days!on the 4th day the fleet manager who needs to sharpen his people skills informed me it should'nt take 4 days to get glasses,he said if that truck does'nt get movin we'll have to come get it, I said come get it!then he chilled and told me what a good job I was doing he must have noticed someone in headquarters Phoenix Az. Had commended me on 100% delivery rate and I was in the top 5% idl!! Anyway two months on the road and all the micro mngmt of swift,I had enough, I quit, they were not happy I took it on my own to bobtail their truck from Il. To Des Moines,dm said I should have come back to Gary terminal and work things out,I said sure like a greyhound ticket home! We'll you abandon our truck and that will follow you,I said they didn't give us a protocol on quitting in orientation,I told her they stressed me out more in two months then I did in 30 yrs of self employment,I really enjoyed being out on the road and look forward to getting back after some time off, with a good smaller company!!!!!!!
