If you put a vehicle OOS and someone tells you to drive it anyway, look them in the eye and say "no". Maintain eye contact as the conversation continues, Either the truck gets fixed or replaced, or you leave. You only need to have this conversation once.
Siinman, snowlauncher, Gearjammin' Penguin and 3 others Thank this. -
I agree. However, with a rotten company like Don's,
I understand most drivers walking away quietly the first chance they get. After all they have young families and don't have the time or money to pursue lawyers etc.
I've seen so many drivers at Don's come and go. Once, I witnessed five drivers quit in one day, another time a new hire quit the very same day he was hired.
I feel we as truckers have an obligation to warn other truck driving folks about these bad companies when we come across them to try and save others from a seriously bad situation. I appreciate forums like this to get the message out.snowlauncher and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
I'm keeping copies while hunting another job. I'm not driving unsafe equipment.
And we're going to the higher ups. If that doesn't work, I'm taking it to the FMCSA.
Get his responses in writing and attach them to your reports. I'm sure DOT would love to come in and tear that ### up. Had that happen to a company I drove for.
And I would've left on the first instance they refused to fix that unit.
This is making that ####cago company I drove for in 2023 look a lot better. I remember when I reported an alignment issue on the trailer that was destroying the tires. I even had shop personnel back me up on it too. Well, they bought new tires and fined me for about $650. Later on, when that same issue kept on, the friend I'd gone with called and asked me about it. He then put the co-owner on three way and had me explain it to him. They'd wanted me to drive all the way back to their terminal with those tires like that. The co-owner then asked me to send him photos and wanted names of who ordered me to drive it like that. I acquiesced his request and let's just say that all of them responsible were fired. There's ways around that malarkey if one is willing to explore the avenues.Siinman, Gearjammin' Penguin, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Had this happen and apparently I was a problem driver after the ladder of my truck kissed a tree when I was avoiding a car. I was later fired from that readymix job. That's ok. I got a good amount of unemployment until I found a new job.Siinman Thanks this.

So you feel the need to tell people on the internet but not the need to do your job and report it as out of service? Who cares if you kill someone on the road with a bad tire but let's make sure other drivers know. Weird logic man.omaharj Thanks this.

LOL. Wow. What a ridiculous assumption. Who exactly said I didn't do my job? This post is mainly to warn other drivers about a really bad company. So, is this the most exciting activity in your sad little life? Trying to get a reaction out of someone to feel good about yourself?
Poor thing.
