What a crock. The driver should have seen the door that was in dront of him. There is a windshield for him to look out of. Besides he , I assume, has a CDL and therfore has minimal training, possibly enough to tell him to look at all sides while backing, driving, etc. Trainer partially at fault, but lets face it it is his fault. Never knew that the school needed to tell a trainee to watch out for obsticles (doors) in front of the driver. Lets take some personal responsibility here, realizing that that is a past trait. If all else fails lets take the irresponsible way out and get on unemployment, or disability, in stead of looking for another job.

Don't train with swift? I would not do anything with Swift. I would be a greeter at Walmart before I work for that company or J.B.

Oh come on swift, prime,c.r.england, J.B. ur talking just a few of the greats in trucking. They've made the life of owner ops great and fulfilling empty promises to all the greenhorns out there. And I don't care if u've drove for 20 years, if you drive for one of these bottom feeders your still green cause you haven't learned they are MEGA scum

I was at that POS Pilot just east of the TA in Denver, and a Werner truck pulled in, hooked a 16" curb, cut a tandem tire and bent the wheel. Turned out, 2 new drivers in the truck, "training each other." I just don't get it. Like 2 wrongs make a right or something really flawed. Two guys who don't know anything are just that, two guys who don't know anything. How's that "teaching" supposed to happen? Where's it coming from? Not to say hooking a curb couldn't happen to most anybody on any certain day.Last edited: Jun 5, 2014

It's coming from the top at Werner.Their main concern is making money. So they hire the blind leading the blind to train.
-
It comes from greed. Putting a full team at $0.25 cents a miles on a $2.50 load lol what if by some miracle they get the load there with no problems-- we just made a killing. Even better if the drivers wreck out and die, that catastrophic insurance addendum we added last week would pay off quite nicely.

Trucking use to be fun and something to be proud of now it's getting kinda sad

Atleast your mentor let you attempt some backs, mine didn't let me back unless it was an empty lot lol.
-
If you don't get 40 backs, tell HR or somebody about it. Get another trainer.
-
Because nobody wants to train people who actually has a true desire to train, most of the current trainers are just looking for more cents per mile to keep up with the buffet bills... Lol, but most of that is true.pattyj Thanks this.
