I went through both Rocker in Butte and Inkom at 155k and neither one even pulled me in to check paperwork. Went through Inkom and Lima on the way back and just rolled through both of them also. All the other scales were closed.

Mine is not to ask why though, mine is to rejoice.

Diddn't see the inside of Scale house all week. Coming thru Iowa junction 151 and 61 north DOT. Red lights. Driver we have an inspection station just ahead. Please follow me. Yes sir.
    Inspection over sitting in car.
    What year is your truck.
    99 sir.
Pretty good shape for as old as it is.
    Thank you sir. (I think)
Two things the turn signal needs to be turned around. (I have two face light red/amber lens. backwards)
Second. the retro reflective tape on the back of you cab is missing on one side.
Yes sir. Didn't think that was required unless bobtail.
    Required all the time.
    Please sign the box.
    Here is your copy.
It has a violation of 393.11TU.
    Have a nice day officer.
Is this violation computed in the SMS/CSA
I read in another thread it was not. I'm justed looking/hoping it is not included in CSA. Violation table says it is a 3 point violation. Times three is pretty high.
Safety my backside. Someone might run into me without that reflector up there. I have reflectors on the mud flaps and tail lights.
It was that way since I bought the truck 5-6 years ago. All the inspections and this is the first time mentioned. I know my fault for not knowing the code. Even all my annual inspections nothing was mentioned.

I got inspected on 45 in Mississippi just south of the Tennessee line. Full level 1 with no violations. The officer was about my age, around 60.
As he was placing the clean inspection stickers on my truck and trailer he says "I pulled you in for an inspection because your truck is easy to get under. Some of these trucks set so low to the ground it's hard to get under them".
I have a Western Star that sets up pretty high.
Oh well, I got a clean inspection that goes on my record. That is a good thing.

I think the road check is the same time every year. My registration runs out the end of May so I'm always home for a week so I seem to miss it.

Ran from Charlotte NC to Kent WA during the blitz. Rolled into every open scale and just slow rolled thru, never red lighted to get inspected.

I left Minnesota and ran down to SoCal. Not one scale was open. None in Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah or Cali. The only open scale I hit was the Boise POE and got rolled through the bypass.

My crackpipe theory is that when Congress told FMCSA that they were going to drop the hammer on their head, FMCSA told the DOT scales to back off a little. That, and after a few years now, CSA seems to have swept most of the bad actors off the roads
