Never been to Montana, always wanted to go. After reading this thread now I'm not so sure.

DataQ is to waste your time with lousy excuses.
I had a so called violation on my psp. Started with dataQ. Requested the inspection or ticket. They gave me an inspection that had nothing whatsoever to do with me, my company, or the state. Then closed the complaint. Asked my supervisor if he could do something from his end. Two days later. He sends me an online talk with Ca. Hwy. Patrol. They had that removed from my and the company’s psp.

You're not missing out on much, at least from a trucking standpoint...
I run I-15 from Pocatello, Idaho up to Butte 5 nights a week. It's a pretty quiet stretch of road, but the conditions can deteriorate rapidly about 8 or 9 months out of the year. The Montana DOT make it a low priority with the snowplows, and it's very sparsely populated between the few towns you pass through en-route.
I can't say I would want to live in that state, but to each his own...
On a side note, gambling is legal, and the outdoor activities are plentiful, i.e. hunting, fishing, skiing, etc...

Dang pocatello to butte every night. That is one lonely road to run everyday. Brutal in the winter. We've probably passed by eachother more than once

Western montana is the beautiful scenery. Just stay west of belgrade/Bozeman. Missoula is a cool city as well as Kalispell. Get out into the idaho panhandle , it is beautiful country.

It is my choice to run up here all year long. It comes with the territory. I will never knock a guy for not wanting to chain up. But i would not have any work from september to april if it wasnt for chains.

    I
I'm sure of it. Just look for XPO trucks pulling doubles or triples and it could be me. I'm sure you probably blow our doors off of our 65 m.p.h. trucks.

Yea... about that. We kind of have to chain up with our single screws when the snow flies. Moose cr. gets pretty bad before the plows come through. I cuss up a storm when I'm outside in a snowstorm chaining up and the twin screw trucks are going barefoot...
It's part of the job though, it pays well so I muddle through it.

In regards to the weigh stations, the one at Sage jct. is a weigh-in-motion with pre-pass. Most of the time if you scale out, they will bypass you, which is nice because you actually have to completely exit the freeway and detour to get to the scale house. There is an Idaho state trooper that frequently parks there and sidelines trucks for inspections. I had a lv. 2 a few weeks back and passed, but one of my paper hazmat placards was folded over a little from the wind. He gave me a verbal lecture and sent me on my way. The whole thing took about 45 minutes or so.
The Lima port had been closed every night for several months last winter. I think there was an older officer there who was nearing retirement, and after he left they hadn't gotten anyone to fill the position. A few months ago they re-opened and have been consistently pulling trucks off to axle them out. It's a Pre-pass, but it seems that the new guy who works there likes to weigh everyone out. I have sat in line with triples and had 4 trucks in front of me, all of them with triples, while he stops them on every axle as they pass by. It's a bit time consuming when they have 30 axles to weigh out...
