Thanks. I have heard the same. They already told me last week they were really interested in me. So that’s reassuring. Thanks for the info!

No problem man. I feel lucky where I’m at, as a rookie. You probably will too, there’s a lot worse in this industry.. Dot is a great place.
-
UhOhh,
I live in CNY as well always see DOT advertising for drivers for Liverpool. I see the various schedule choices (6/3, 4/4) as well as regional and part time no touch. Which schedule are you on? How does each schedule work if you have been there long enough to figure it all out yet? -
I’m currently a 4x4 and love it. I can also work as much as I want, or just the 4 days. With both 4x4 and the 6x3, you’ll be slip-seating with another guy. I usually take a transfer to Ohio, Georgia or Indiana for my first assignment and for the next I’ll make deliveries to customers in a place like Massachusetts and then have a pickup going back to NY. It varies and I like that.
Slick Tiff and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this. -
Has it been a consistent 4/4 other than if you chose to work more? Do you slip seat with the same driver and truck all of the time?
-
How much can you make on that 4x4?
-
Very consistent and yes it’s the same person you’re sharing the truck with. They take care of all their equipment if it’s in the shop or if you choose to work more though. You’re entitled to that schedule/ 4 days off. I’d say it’s around 53-55000 just working the 4 days.

Handling the freight is where the money is at. That’s why the pay is good. It’s not a Sysco type operation either. You’ll usually have 3 deliveries in close proximity, and it’s just putting a couple pallets where they want it/ putting each item in sight so they can count it. Not hard at all. The full time guys are bringing in $80 grand and up.
Slick Tiff and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this. -
Do you think dot Foods will venture into the restaurant delivery business?
-
I don’t think so. Sysco and US Foods are probably Dot’s largest customers. Dot’s business model is to buy in bulk from suppliers and then chops it into smaller orders for multiple customers, who are themselves distributors to the end customers, like restaurants. Redistribution.
BigHossVolvo and Octrucker Thank this.
