I have high BP, higher than yours, and take medication to control it. Get your BP under control, should only take a week or two, the get your DOT Physical. You will get a 1 year card, and have to get a new one each year.

If you are still on medication it should be a 1 year card. https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/faq/what-effect-driver-certification-based-fmcsa-hypertension-stages

    Nope, read it again:

A driver with a diagnosis of hypertension on treatment should have at least an annual certification.
A CMV driver with a Blood pressure (BP) 140/90 may be certified for 2 years.

Note it says "should have", not "must have" or "may only be issued"......The next sentence then states if under 140/90, may be issued a 2 year card.....

I don't think they can force you yet since it not law yet but they seem to really push it. Some bigger companies are testing drivers for it

That has been my beef all along, I am taking care of mine, yet every year I am told they cannot do a 2 year, only a 1. I could understand the 1 year if I was borderline, or just started medication, but I have been in the same medication for at least 5 years.

Don't tell the doctor anything. If he asks "Do you snore?" Tell him, "No, my girlfriend/wife etc. says I don't." "I sleep soundly." Never volunteer anything to a DOT doctor or you'll probably flunk the physical. If you were on medication when you were in the 3rd grade, don't tell the doctor.

He can get a 2 yr. card if he doesn't mention the BP meds.

Thank you to everyone that did a reply to my question to my high blood pressure. Is DOT doctor that bad you can't tell them if you have something wrong with you? I do have insomnia would that be bad to tell the dot doctor that I have that?

If you mention insomnia, he will flunk you and tell you to get an expensive sleep study done. The doc probably gets a kickback from the sleep study clinic. Don't volunteer anything. You're not on any meds either? Trucking is brutal these days; always be on the defensive.
Personally, I'd rather lie and be employed than tell the truth and be unemployed.

The old forms had a small print that said if the BP was high you could not get a 2 year card. I don't see it now so maybe you are right.
