Have heard that same story with other family-owned companies, the motivations are different in the kids and they didn't have to learn the hard way, which tends to stick better and enhance respect and gratitude.
We saw it with WalMart in the past couple years, I just heard another version of it at a rack the other week, in that one the dad is coming back to save at least a piece of what he built, the kids still aren't getting it. IIRC, CL Werner came back at one point for similar reasons.
I tend to respect the driver-run companies and want to vacate the ones run by the next generation or "investors".

It seems someone didn’t check his kingpin securement prior to pulling away.
I had nothing to do with it! But I enjoy relishing in his misery.
