One thing I was doing was still clutching while I was revving and then wondering why I couldn't get it into gear. Don't. And as has been said, its not a huge rev to 1500rpm if you were in the right gear. Vroom vroom... And it's literally as long as it takes to say it

Look at your speedo and remember the speed in each gear as you up shift.(1700 rpm?) When you want to down shift, same rpm, same speed it will slip into the lower gear.

Well, no more double clutching unless you try and get a union job with a manager that's 80+ years old that has the attitude of "It worked that way when I was young, so you must double clutch to pass the road test and get hired."
And I'm not really picking on anyone, mostly just policy that has not realized that metal, clutches, and the whole tranny is simply made for floating anymore. You don't have to worry about twisting a tranny or driveshaft out of the truck if you miss by 50 rpm anymore.

Proper inspection daily includes a fierce twist back and forth to confirm the joint is well lubed and doesn't twist more than 10 degrees out of position. (Draglink)
