    Well mechanics don't like fixing things anymore. They are just part replacers nowadays It's much simpler to replace a part than to diagnose/clean it.

    GOOD TO KNOW! Which is cheaper? I'm wondering which one my (former) company used.

    Good to know, thanks. Is that for any make/model truck?

    As a company driver, you're lucky a shop will even listen to your opinion. Don'[t waste your breathe, company will do whatever it's policy is.

    If I had $10 for every time I was told the problem was fixed and left the shop, head down the road only to have the same problem arise, I could have free meals for a year! That includes trucks & cars.

    no overhaul yet, I replaced camshaft once last year and injectors twice at aprox 700k and last year 1.3 mil; has 8 years,we bought it new in june 2007 / 2008 model running team; still goes over 8mpg, doesn't burn any oil, I don't add any 35,000 miles oil change interval.

    if Volvo would have service centers like freightliner and parts availability for engines they could be top truck sellers. in the battle between EU and American engine makers Americans are looser. AND THAT'S SAD! cat truck engines are history, maxforce is junk, cummins is back from front line. ((((

    Volvos are sure more "American" than Freightliner and International , just designed in Europe; engines made in Hagerstown, Maryland and trucks assembled in Greensboro ,NC and Dublin, Virginia;

    Yeah but the product actually works. I will support north american jobs and innovation as much as I can but how am I supposed to do that if I have a one truck business and that truck is unreliable? Hell, even the oilfield guys are running volvos. I don't think they look good at all but from a business perspective the reliability issue is a huge factor these days.

    I am not saying don't buy them. I am just saying that europeans are designing better diesel engines now. its sad.
