Another word of advice...you might not like the answers and advice you're getting here but these guys are taking personal time to try to help you.
When somebody tries to help you, even if you don't like their methods, at least do them the courtesy of listening to what they say.
Lose the attitude. The only enemy you have here is yourself.

 

A "good driver" would select the proper gear and NEVER touch their brakes going downhill.

 

A better driver wouldn’t be outside of the truck trying to touch the brakes going down hill. You slip and you’re dead.
