And that’s why I might be leaving mine. We just switched to hourly, w/o overtime, when all other companies in the area pay overtime.

The story, linked above, matches what I see and hear from other drivers. Not only does trucking require many drivers to sacrfice time with friends & family, most of the people you deal with daily treat you like a homeless serial killer.okiedokie, Rctruck87, Still undecided and 4 others Thank this.

Someone once said-
" Trucking ain't for sissies."
Perhaps the issues in trucking expose the culture and attitude of our young people.Geekonthestreet, Oxbow, Snow Hater and 8 others Thank this. -
What should your overtime pay be and after how many hours will it start? FYI, I drive for hourly pay. Daycab both aviation fuels and chemicals.Friend Thanks this.

Your work/drive/sleeper/off times are measured already. I suggest paying $X per hour (Driving & On-Duty) for the first 40 hours and 1.5 $X for the rest of your D + ODND hours.
If this happens the industry can stop pretending there are no delays. It can also stop with the Detenion Pay scam.Still undecided and sevenmph Thank this. -
Time and a half after 40, like 99% of other companies in this country.Pamela1990 Thanks this.

You get to decide, not what the company pays, but what you will accept. Each driver in each type of job and each region will make different choices. Nobody in the Dept of Transportation of somewhere in the FMCSA, makes the decision. The shippers/receivers and trucking companies will negotiate rates and the drivers should choose which pay rates are acceptable. The alternative, some govt department making that choice will be a disaster, at least for drivers.Northern Nomad Thanks this.

Dump the pay-per-mile scheme. That's one of the reasons our pay has remained so low over the last few decades.stuckinthemud, Pamela1990, fairshake and 3 others Thank this.

It will be changed if drivers stop working for CPM. CPM isn't required in any regs I know of. It started as a convenient way 50-75 years ago. Frankly CPM always reminds me of the scenes in the classic movie "The Grapes of Wrath" with fruit pickers bidding against each other as fruit pickers.Tug Toy and RockinChair Thank this.

Shippers and receivers would love for detention charges to end, they'll keep us at the dock even longer, "what are you crying about driver, you're paid by the hour"
