What's this night time driving? Never heard of it! Must be a van/reefer thing. Kidding aside whenever possible I try to get through major cities at night or off peak hours (early am) at least.

It is best to drive at rush hour. Why else would so many people do it. Don't listen to these guys, they are trying to suck you in. Drive at peak traffic times. You make so much more money driving 3 miles an hour then driving at 70. Trucking is about people watching. Get out there and sit in the traffic and look at them. In New York you can even learn how to cuss in languages from all over the world. Houston, you can learn that those Mexican kids carry the nicest looking weapons. No, I say you have to take time to smell the roses or is that sewer gas? Anyway, drive during the day and leave the night to those of us who do not understand the beauty of crowds.
pete1 and scottied67 Thank this. -
If you know how to split break, you can manipulate when you want to run. Picking up in the afternoon and see that your 14 will end around midnight and you know parking will be difficult? Stop around 1600 and take an 8 hour break and leave at midnight and go for a few hours and have a 2 hour breakfast/shower.
Some driver who doesn't know how to split break will appreciate you pulling out of a primo parking spot at midnight. -
I prefer night. Im on a run where 2 guys run days and 2 nights. We get done quicker and without as much hassle running nights. Only drawbacks is winter time when the roads ice, deer and 3 am drunks.
