Are there any O/Os in here with their own authority running pneumatic bulk? I am a company driver now getting ready to make the leap to O/O. I am considering many options, one being continue doing bulk independently. I was wondering if the income supports the extra investment.

Unless you can grab a steady contract it's not worth it. Ever since the oilfield died down the sand cans have been looking for work too. That's really cut throat business. You could always lease to a company that already has contracts

When I was pulling food grade pneumatic in the Midwest it was the companies with a bunch of trailers that had the work.

Unless 4 or 5 companies having the contracts for most of the food grade loads is a monopoly then no they did not. It depended on who had what coming back from where that dictated the outbound loads they tried to get.

You're better off leasing on somewhere that already has customers for that particular freight. It's too specialty to make a go at it independently.
