So do manuals.
It's more the driver than the truck. An auto is proven to be safer for a new driver, the stats don't lie, but for a veteran driver it won't make a difference. There is nothing unsafe about either if you know how to drive them.dunchues, 112racing and SingingWolf Thank this. -
Nothing wrong with asking questions and learning. But when you are asking questions that could be irrelevant in 6 months, it's kinda pointless imho.
Transportation changes so rapidly, as do companies. There is so much going on behind the scenes right now at SNI it would blow your mind if you knew half of it.
The IPO will change so much you may not even recognize the company when they are done.SingingWolf Thanks this. -
No automatic or 13 speed crashes without a driver behind the wheel.
Period.dunchues, SingingWolf and jakecat22 Thank this. -
Truth right there.

Take a look at this video. Please don't be distracted by the fact the driver is filming while driving, it is a handsfree body/forehead camera so don't even go there. The point is this stuck driver in the opposite lane is driving an automated transmission and blocked the entire freeway behind him. The driver filming has the exact same make and model truck with automated transmission going the opposite direction on identical road condtions (icy).
i guess my point would be both transmissions has their pros and cons but if you know how to drive you can drive anything.jakecat22 and PolishPrince Thank this. -
Nothing wrong with taking it easy... respect the ice... it does sound like he is doing just fine in his auto tho...

I'm not saying one way or the other as to why the other driver became stuck because I have no idea based on that video. Which is why I ask how can the fact that driver who became stuck had an auto be the deciding factor on why he became stuck? It could have been any number of reasons why he was hung up.
I have driven an auto for over a year and a half in all conditions and none of these things that I keep reading about have happened to me. I'm not pro one way or the other (auto vs manual) but there seems to be a lot of misinformation out there about autos.jakecat22 and Home_on_wheels Thank this. -

Seems that a lot of recurring complaints about the Autos... most notably the crazy shifting on downgrades... trying to creep the truck troubles... and going into econ mode in not so opportune moments... and the engine brake crazy over-revving...
Over-revving I wouldnt care about that as a company driver... but i dont want that over-revving in my truck... not if i plan on trying to turn 2M miles in it....
Im a feel the vehicle kind of driver... and I just imagine being a lot calmer when I have more in my control... especially in poor conditions... but thats just me and the little experience that I do have, ages ago.
How much better is you MPG in an auto vs manual... thats what i want to know...scottied67 Thanks this.
