6 hours on duty waiting for it to be repaired?
I'd have gone off duty and used the split to be able to get to a safe place.
Dumb question from a noob

If it’s not too much trouble, leave your phone in video mode please. I’m trying to get to the bottom of this Abominable Snowman mystery.

Too late for advice now. I have seen trucks parked in the chain up quite a few times. 4 things can and do happen. 1 they plow your ### in, now your have a 4 foot high berm around your truck. You can dig all you want you won't be getting out till your winched out
2 CHP will help you get to your next stop by calling a tow truck whether you want it or not.
3 CHP will just tell you to move on, don't care about your hours
4 You get lucky and sleepAccidental Trucker, Flat Earth Trucker, dboot01 and 3 others Thank this. -

Sorry! Nothing happened! I slept in the chain lane and woke up too see I wasn't the only one that did it. I was so fed up with that night that I would have taken my chances anywhere! It worked out thankfully. But I'll still take all your advices and not do it again. I take it as a lesson learned! Thanks all safe travels

I did go off duty but I already did a split earlier that day so my 14 was running like horse peeFlat Earth Trucker Thanks this.

Oh go on…. You’re greenin’ us, ain’t ya? I had a horse and I wouldn’t have the first notion how fast he went “winkle”. He was one of those ponies, those little mean bastiges that’ll bite you, kick you, buck you off, etc…
Come to think of it, Big Maude isn’t too unlike that…Speed_Drums, Bean Jr. and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
I always leave my ambers on. I don't know much about APUs. Ask your mechanic just to be sure about how you can leave your truck "on" so that it will activate battery mode without running the opti-idler. There might be a way to do that. So when your batteries run low, your truck will just turn on and charge the batteries back up.
If you are parked out there somewhere it's low visibility, leaving your clearance lights on is a good idea, and it's courteous to other drivers.austinmike Thanks this. -
Have Big Maude and Large Marge met?
