I wouldn't know anything about there insurance. But I do know back in the early 90s when Dot wanted to plug into your truck in order to write you speeding tickets. And pull running information off the ECM, Ooida was solely responsible for squashing that BS.
E-log drama again..

Times have changed. People beg the government to make them feel all warm and fuzzy for any perceived threat or slight. And gullible enough to be tricked into begging them to take away freedom. While I agree OOIDA isn't always on the right side of every issue and they do have their own self interest they do happen to be the only association out here doing anything at all on behalf of drivers. If not for them filing lawsuits no-one would be. They have successfully gotten this mandate delayed in the courts by showing that EOBR can be used to harass drivers putting the onus on those wanting to implement them to make sure they can't be used for that.
It was really only a speed bump though. The government always gets what they want. The only ammendment not totally taken away yet is the 2nd and they have restricted that to the point of absurdity, it is only one manchurian candidate mass shooting after another until they manage to make it meaningless also. People will laugh and call that kooky but it is the truth. You have no reasonable expectation nor right to privacy in anything you do anymore. That's just how it is and can easily be proven same as 9 of the bill of rights ammendments, plus most of the others can easily be shown what a farce they are. Apologies for the rant.Not_Here_Long, heavyhaulerss, rank and 6 others Thank this. -

^^^^ This is so true.
The current state of the union is pure corruption by whoever has the most money to give the politicians, etc.
Might as well be the "legal" Mob.thejackal, spyder7723 and TaylorMade407 Thank this. -
Maybe OOIDA is fighting losing battle, but they are fighting. Unlike the ATA and TCA who are pushing these regulations to hamstring the owner operators and take away the advantages we enjoy: speed and flexibility. We all play by the same rules, but O/O play it to their advantage. OOIDA won the first round against ELDs, maybe they can delay the rule for a few years in court,or get it thrown out.
With that said, I wouldn't be against ELDs if two things happened: Abolish the 14 hour rule and don't connect them to the engine. I have been using the Big Road app on my smart phone for three years and love it. If I could continue with that and not tie it to my engine, that would be outstanding. Get rid of the 14 hour rule and you will solve coercion at shippers and receivers, cut down on work hour traffic and free up parking spaces. And crashes would most likely decline also.JPenn, Derailed, rank and 1 other person Thank this. -

I tell drivers... a government who will give everything to you, is a government that will take everything from you! not my own, I read it somewhere years ago.
