I am a single truck operator. I do just fine logging and communicating and organizing without being tied to uncle sam via gps. As to anyone falsifying logs and killing people......make THAT PERSON ACCOUNTABLE. This whole EOBR thing is a solution in search of a problem. Until SERIOUS reform is instituted at FMSCA with both HOS and attitude......I do NOT want them having any greater control over my business.....they are out of touch and out of control at the moment and it HAS TO STOP. No other transportation segment has this type of relationship with the body that regulates them; not the airlines, not the maritime, not the rail. We NEED partnership and workability such as these other industries enjoy.

What question you think you want answered should the government allow outlaw trucking? NO go after companies that allows it and hold the drivers responsible duh.
I mean come on there are gangbangers and drug cartels shotting eachother and bystanders should they take our guns nope as that just makes it harder for us and the outlaws still get theirs easily. Just as drivers that drive tired and stupid will continue to do so they are just making it harder for those that want to be safe to be that way. -
You seem to be thinking that the ELOG is the answer to people driving tired. It isn't. How many times have you been tired and your company expects you to be driving when it says you are legal but you didn't sleep, maybe ate something bad and had a bad night on a toilet, maybe had to choose a less than desirable place to park that has ladies of the evening bothering you at all hours - any way you cut it - you are not rested and SAFE to drive. So let's say your company how has to reschedule the delivery and they tell the customer about your little endeavor about not sleeping. Guess how long you will be working there OR how long your company's customer will be asking you to haul loads for them. So that is why you drive when it says, regardless of your physical condition. On the flip side, let's say you have a regular run which you are currently doing LEGALLY every day in say 10.75 hours driving time. Sleep, turn around, return. Should a load like this now be made into a team load because you MIGHT get caught in traffic and a computer log would tell on you for driving 11 hours and 3 minutes? Perhaps the answer is to tell the customer you can deliver it 24 hours later, and then expect them to pay a decent amount of extra for the "driver" to sit somewhere.
I am not all about the people who egregiously violate the HOS - the cross country one shot drivers - but there are just too many issues that are beyond a driver's control which directly effect his earnings / time management. Until the driver can actually accomplish a day's work EFFICIENTLY - the Elog should NOT be mandated. If they think there is a driver shortage now, just wait for this mandate to come down. Let's continue to reduce productivity in a time when we are just beginning our recovery. Smart.RedForeman, Joetro and tsavory Thank this. -
Probably the cause of the Wal Mart crash, explained in your last sentence.

Forgot the quote.

Here's a straight, simple, to the point answer, that even you should get. We have way more than enough gubbermint in our lives as it is, and I do NOT want ANYTHING contributing to the "big brother gubbermint" we're heading for. Does that answer your question??RedForeman, Joetro and gokiddogo Thank this.

No your lucky.

Just the title "eLog vs. Paper" is silly on it's face. They do the same thing. I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about. It's kind of like
