Wow whats wrong with voiceing our opinions on things thats wrong 4 of the 6 things mentioned are the goverment trying to control and tell us what we can and cant do elog hos lady in charge and speed limiters so yeah I will ##### I dont take well to be told I can't it not in my nature. You get a soultion that really makes since to any of those wont ##### but till then hell yeah I will be vocal and do all I can to stand for MY RIGHT TO LIFE LIBERTY AND PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
I feel bad for those that want or need someone telling them how to live and work because they can't figure it out on their own.
And I will tell you I vouced my objections to the wrongs in evry industry I have worked in and will in any other industry I will work in if I do keep driving but I love the job to much to give up on it even with the bad but dont take I will just rollover and beg for more not going to happen

there are many pros and cons to both e logs and paper ... just need to learn out to use them to their full advantage... use the 7/10 tenths of a mile rule... learn what your truck is set up for as far as how far you can drive it before activating on to line 3 ... do this when you have hours to drive so you won't put yourself into a violation ... I usually drive 6/10's of a mile ... shut the truck off ... count to 10 and fire it back up ... and do this as many times as it takes ... 6/10's of a mile on the odometer ... will usually keep you out of a violation ...

With my elogs, if I am still on line 3 and I forget to change my status (like when I walk in to a shipper), after 5 minutes of the truck not moving, it will automatically bump me up to line 4 from the time I stopped the truck. Or if I have been stopped less than 5 minutes and change my status, it will credit me the time from when the truck stopped. Lastly, if I am on the drive line and turn the truck off, I am automatically put on line 4.

As for editing, I am able to change any status any which way except the drive line.

On our set up we're allowed up to two miles driving before it kicks us onto the drive line. After a while, you get a sense of how far two miles is without spying the odometer constantly especially when you're on a customer's property that is huge and where is is not uncommon to put on 5 or so miles on the the truck.

I'm not aware of any speed trigger like pattyj mentioned.

I'm gonna have to talk to our safety department about changing the parameters on these units. Some of the places we go we have to scale off site which could be up to 1-2 miles away round trip. Well by then it kicked us in drive line cause it's 15 mph or 3/4 of a mile.
I've tried the turn the truck off and I even tried going slower than 15 but it still back counted from the instant my truck started rolling ie. putting me in violation.
Them are the times I don't like the Elogs. Other than that I love them. They just need to get them fine tuned.

Here is where im confused, someone please help me get this...it sounds like most of those ######## about using elogs are o/os, if that is the case who said you had to use them??? Where in the DOT green book does it say all drivers must be on elogs, if I missed it I will admit im wrong but I don't recall this. I never believe they ought to be forced on anyone, but if, I as an o/o like them then how does that effect you. Let me have elogs you have paper we all will be happy. Now if your like me and a company man then you have no right to ##### because you chose that company you can always un choose them

Never ran elogs. My 5 years of driving all been loose leaf. Yes like others i cheat i know my limits. I don't see how people can say cheating logs is why we have all these rules. When in fact elogs are no safer than paper. Your always going to have that one guy that wrecks and makes all of us look bad. Like others have mentioned im not sitting 20 minutes from home or showing 4 hours to load on my log. My 30 min break i hardly ever take i run same hours everyday sleep same hours etc my week starts sun and end friday morning. Knowing your limits and cheating logs is alot better than a log telling you when to run. Us cheating is alot more safer than the guy in a volvo running down the road with ear buds in and feet propped up just saying

Some companies make O/Os have them installed and then, from what I hear, make the O/Os pay the costs.
