One of the biggest reasons we can't do it anymore... It was to easy. And of course new laws to protect us from ourselves?

From many years of stories, non electronic would have to be big cam Cummins.
12.7 D, N-14 in the drive by wire field after that.
Yellow paint still costs a lot. -
Yep, no taking fifty plastic housings off to get to parts. No need for the latest ecm software update to see why this sensor is triggered due to a low/inactive/reading outside of parameters BS! The questions back then were does it have ignition? Fuel?
The most difficult part of the 3406B was getting the AFRC set up right. Very simple motor that worked for years.MACK E-6, Oxbow, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -
Now see, you had to go there.

We didn't do it, @"semi" retired. It was him.
Oxbow, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 201 Thank this. -
Anything old I had I put an Edelbrock 650 carb on. No gaskets below the level of the fuel intake, and the adjustment screws are right on the front. Very easy to tune. Just back one screw out slowly until the engine stops increasing, and then the other one.shogun Thanks this.

That could be, when I saw the mess of crap on top of engine I decided NOT,,,I was in Lake Station Indiana when it happened in '92. I ended up dumping couple litres of fuel conditioner and let it idle for the night and clear itself up.

That's right. The Edlebrock didn't have the needle valves that got blown out of it backfired, you could get them with mechanical secondaries, electric chokes and they worked well right out of the box. It was a crapshoot with a rebuilt Holley, and I never was impressed with Carter Quadrajet. For a daily driver in high school, that edlebrock was great. Once I put it on, I never had to fool with it again after we got it adjusted to our liking. I also was fortunate to live just a few blocks from Lunati, Comp Cams and several good engine places like RHS. TCI made their street fighter transmissions about 20 miles from my house.
You could walk into the speed shop and gets headers, mufflers, intakes, cams and have a car or truck that all the cool kids liked. Now I have a Sierra with a 402 stroker and a big turbo that can put down 900 hp easily, but it's a different animal than an old small block. I like the new LS platform, but I really appreciate the V8's that started it all.MACK E-6 Thanks this. -
I know, I saw it too. 1st, our famed quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, goes down for the season with a broken collar bone, again, and now this. I'm going to bed. All I know, is I'd hate to have to deliver in Green Bay tomorrow. Gonna be a lot of P.O.'d dock workers. I think I'll put the head phones on and listen to Detroit motors on Youtube.
MACK E-6, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 207nomad Thank this. -
LOL...!!! Dang, and here I was trying to avoid the hornets nest
Guess I forgot lol.

Made some adjustments on mine today after replacing a leveling valve.
