That's a lot of info in addition to the very logs. They are overreaching. But for this to be rven somewhat fair, I'd need to be able to read the file too.

The miles don't work without the speed.
Or is there a different method the eld could track
??
One truck I drove didn't rack up any miles on a haul road. Speedo didn't work below 35 mph. It was a long, rough road. -
The miles are coming from the odometer. With both the distance and time of the yard move you can calculate speed (mph). However, the speed won’t be accurate. The longer your truck sits on yard move, the more inaccurate it becomes. If you were to select yard move, get on the freeway, and then stop a few miles later and change to sleeper right away, the calculated speed will be too high to be reasonable for yard move. Now that I think about it, you can also be cracked for location, as you’ll end up too far from when yard move started.snowwy Thanks this.

Eld tracks by one mile radius, so technically you can do a yard move, let's say from dock at one side of the building to a dock at the opposite side without interrupting off duty.
However, if Eld records speed sensor malfunction or sends alerts, then it's not worth doing it -
Here’s reality, ELD’s aren’t going away. Anyone who says they’ve never gotten creative on paper is full of bs. 21 years and three trucks later, I still get creative. Even on ELD’s. The point is this, if they (law makers) want to limit our hours, then they should also legally mandate hourly pay, and also make holding a CDL or an AZ License in Canada a recognized trade. No different than a welder, electrician etc etc. How can a guy carrying a lunch box be worth $40/hour and I can’t barely make that with $150-$200000 piece of equipment?? They are slowly eroding the workforce to steering wheel holder, auto tranny driving morons.
Robsti43130, Badmon, Swine hauler and 2 others Thank this. -
ELD's don't track distance at all. They track speed as provided by the ecm. They do record location to the nearest town with approx 1/2 mile resolution.
Now can some tell movement based in location? Not any compliment one.
Will GPS-derived data for mileage be allowed as a substitute for data that cannot be readily obtained from a vehicle electronic control module (ECM)?
No, the ELD must be able to monitor engine operation to automatically capture required data. A GPS is not integrally synchronized with a vehicle's engine, and cannot be a substitute for required ECM data to comply with the ELD rule -
Hmm, half mile, I was under impression it's one mile. Will have to re-read the rules
-
I’m a bit confused as to what you mean. Yard move (on-duty line 4) can interrupt your break. Maybe you meant to say to disconnect the ELD to move the truck within the shipper/receiver, and then reconnect it. If so, this will trigger an odometer jump in the system.
-
So on my old AOBRD, turning on Yard move, would not put the truck on duty. It just stayed on Sleeper or Off duty. You could drive up to 5 miles with any speed. That was helpful, let's say when you arrive to the receiver at midnight and they wake you up at 7am to unload. You were able to get in the dock without interrupting your brake.
So disconnecting speed sensor, should help out in the situations like that, however, like it was mentioned earlier, if the ELD records speed sensor malfunction, then it does not have sense to do itPE_T Thanks this. -
More #### government regulation shoved onto sheeple. Most of you are sheeple and will bend over backwards if ####ing government would tell you to.
Badmon, lilillill and stayinback Thank this.
