I have 2 trucks, sometimes during the week I use one and then the other.
How are ELD going to keep up with that? It will look like I'm off that day whatever truck I'm not driving. LOL.

You log into your ELD in whatever vehicle you are driving. You put in the vehicle identifiers the same as you would write them on your paper log, which would also go with you in whatever vehicle you are driving. The ELD tracks logs associated with you, as a driver, rather than the vehicle. The book that stays with your vehicle is the DVIR book. Your logs stay with you, whether paper or digital. -
To expound upon that, you would have one ELD device. This device would connect to your ECM plug. As you switch vehicles you take the ELD with you and upon entering the new vehicle you change the info pertaining to that vehicle on your logs on the ELD. Thus your logs on the ELD would be kept current on lines 1-4 and prior 7 days.

In Qualcomm, driver sign in using their driver number and it updates the logs via internet. The only thing that change is the unit number.

Most companies have multiple devices, (one each per vehicle *or* one each per driver), and you log in to each with a driver identification. If the device is connected to the ECM, then it identifies the vehicle, that way, but many use wireless vehicle identifiers that require you to select from a list of vehicles within range, or you simply identify the vehicle manually. It is, after all, possible that someone else may be driving the other vehicle at the same time that he is driving the one that he's in...

Since the OP uses one of his two trucks I am assuming the other one sits. I would think the OP would not be looking to put an ELD in each vehicle, but is looking for an option to use one they can transfer from one vehicle to another. The QC is more a hardwired device and the OP may be looking for a cheaper ELD.
Many ELD's you simply plug into the Deuche Plug and it has a Dongle that BT's back to the users electronic device be it a phone or tablet. These run $149 - on up.
If the OP decides to run two ELD's, then yes they simply log into that device and the information is transmitted back to a main source like a one ELD setup.
Both a one ELD and two ELD setup will require a monthly subscription fee to be seen back to a common source other than the OP's electronic device they are recording on.
The Deuche Plug setup would be more in line with the O/O's type of setup. Hardwired are more expensive.
Not pushing these, but for examples.

I could see in years to come, a digital countdown clock displayed on the side of the trucks showing how many hours are left for everyone to see.
