ELDs are going to get people hurt/killed

Yea that's what they need to do with what we have now if you stop your clock stops

 

This was told to us in orientation. No idea if it's true. A trucker was 15 minutes over and sitting at a light waiting to turn into his warehouse for delivery. Some 16 year old on a motorcycle ran up his butt and killed himself. The company was sued and had to pay a wrongful death penalty because in theory the trucker should NOT have been at the light since he was out of hours. With lawyers making a living taking companies to court, it seems plausible.

 

What about the 15 minute buffer?

 

Does anyone use dash mounted that controls everything, and has routing and prepass built in?

 

What the hell is an AOBRDS? ELD.

 

Maybe that was included, or a story to scare us.

In a nushell, less restricted and more carrier options than an ELD

 

That part of PA definitely needs some more parking options. Good god, the Pilot at exit 99 on I79 is IT from Pittsburgh clear to Erie!

 

They had driver facing cameras back then too. Each wagon had a sketch artist.
