It’s not clapped out, but the plastics on Volvos just don’t last very long. A lot of our fleet has replacement plastics on the bumper.
Electric front bumper to evade damage.

And I will laugh at your carnival ride truck because it looks ridiculous...the only difference between that kind of a truck and an actual carnival ride is the over amplified disco music blasting out of worn out PA speakers on the ride. And I wouldn't be jealous of a truck like that, I think chrome and chicken lights are a waste that doesn't impress anyone but the person driving it.Last edited: Nov 9, 2023

Yeah, the new replacement black plastic is already loose at the clip in connection. I give it 6 months before it departs like the OEM silver part. The mechanic that replaced it said the part that it clips in to is worn out, but management decided not to replace it too. Not my money, as long as it passes an inspection, they can fix what they want on it.kylefitzy Thanks this.

and you can keep telling yourself that everyone is dazzled by your blinkey lights
And my company doesn't give me anything...I earn my paycheck, and as long as the multi-billion dollar company we haul for is in business...I'll keep hauling their high dollar freight in my plastic Volvo.buddyd157 Thanks this. -

Not my ride so not my money, but I personally don’t care for those. Too easily damaged, I would think.
Granted, I didn’t know until now there was this electric setup for them. -
Or, what if, the person that owns the truck actually cares about it? What if they’ve worked hard for it and are proud of it? Why is it that in trucking any amount of pride is considered a bad thing all the while everyone complains about how the industry is these days? I don’t care who I do or don’t impress, but unless the forecast is looking bad my truck is clean. And the only reason is that I like my stuff clean, and the company I lease to expects their trailer to go thru a wash at least once a week.
So in your opinion my old boss was foolish and compensating when he’d spend $10k to have stripes painted on every one of his trucks? Also in your opinion the owner of the company I’m leased to now is foolish because he owns a lot of nice equipment that is expected to be kept clean?
How does it work when someone doesn’t have a hood but they also don’t have a plain Jane fleet truck? Where do I fit in the spectrum of wiener measuring that you guys do? -
Also interesting, those that talk trash about other’s trucks never seem to show what they’re driving. Almost like they’re a little ashamed to be running down the road in something that only sees water when it rains.
