Just doing a casual poll , I'd say most on here like or want E-logs.
Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want , and deserve to get it good and hard.

What most people want is not necessarily the best thing.
And the U.S. is not a true democracy. It is a republic democracy. At least, I think so.

This is not a society where the majority rules because there are other rules in place to curb that.

Just look at the past presidential elections (this last one included) where the majority voted for one but got the other. I'm not saying that either was better or worse, it is what it is. But everything is not counted on a 1-1 basis.
A true democracy would be strictly one to one, and we don't have that here.

I do agree that people should get what they choose, good and hard.
But how many are willing to accept the hard part of choosing wrongly?

In our current situation of Trump vs. Clinton, how many on either side will admit that they chose wrongly?
And if the tide was turned and Clinton won... how many?

Because, in my view, both sides were wrong. It would be equally as bad with either, but for different reasons.

    That's an old quote
The point is if we're apathetic as our rights and liberties erode we deserve what we get.

Then that should be your choice to run them or to seek employment at a company that runs them.

I prefer driving a day cab. Should everyone have to drive a daycab just because that's what I prefer? I could make arguments about how much safer the roads would be due to the increased visibility (no such thing as a blind side). Hell, arguments could be made for ANY business decision a company might make, but that doesn't justify mandating that business decision across the entire industry, because no two operations are identical. When you try making blanket one-size-fits-all policies to manage the entire industry without regard to the nuances of the various segments within the industry, it generally harms more than it helps. Elogs might work great for a dry van operation with a majority of their freight being drop & hook and a driver who lives in the truck. Elogs won't work as well for a flatbedder with a day cab who is home every night with live loads and unloads.

For example, suppose there have been some delays. You're sitting there being loaded, but you're watching the clock and know how long it'll take you to drive home. They're just about done with you, but you're cutting it awful close. Do you 1) take the time to properly secure your load and blow past your 14 by a half hour or so getting home, or 2) do a hurry-up job securing the load because you've got to go and hope nothing falls off the trailer on your way home, or 3) do yousecure the load and then just hammer down and exceed the speed limit by an extra 10 mph or so to make up that 30 minutes you need to get home wiith a properly secured load and without violating the HOS? Stopping and checking into a motel room 30 minutes from the house ain't gonna happen, so which is the lesser of the evils? Violate the HOS, drive with an unsecured load, or hammer down?

Yes, I realize that my argument is more against the current HOS than it is with elogs, due to the rigidity of the 14 hour clock. Strict enforcement through electronic tracking only exacerbates that problem, though, and until the HOS problem is resolved mandating elogs will cause more problems than it solves. If we were still operating under the old rules, I'd be more inclined to accept the elog...because the 15 hour clock only counted lines 3 & 4, allowing a little more flexibility in dealing with the things that happen out here in the real world.

Democracy is simply two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. No more, no less.

Most on here have no clue what it's like to work without chains.

As old timers retire. The newbies take over with a leash on their throats.
As paper goes bye bye. The Allmighty boss takes the place of paper.

The days of freedom. ARe about over.

    The new breed rules now.
