I've got a story to tell.

Its probably not very nice. Some of you may even be offended.

If you care to read on,.. do so at your own risk.

    .

So anyway,.. I'm cruising along. I read these message boards and signs. "Left 2 lanes closed ahead", "1 lane ahead, MM 101 to 103". I'd been reading these signs for the better part of 10 miles or more.

So finally traffic is backed up and barely moving. We're about 1 mi from the 101. I'm in the right lane as I should be, and another trucker pulls along side of me in the middle lane. I'm not paying him any attention and he toots his horn, I look over and he wants me to roll my window down. I do and he asks me if I know whats going on ahead of us as he doesnt have a CB radio. I'm thinking this guy can not be serious,.. or can he? So I tell him,.. "Yeah man,.. seems an air craft needed to use the interstate for an emergency landing." "In about 1 mile you should see what all the fuss is about". He says thanks and I'm muttering to myself wishing I was somewhere else.

Some of you may think of me as an A-hole for that. And you are probably right. But I couldnt help but wonder as he approached the lane closures if he understood I used his ignorance for my own personal entertainment. If his bulb wasnt bright enough to read the multitude of signs,.. what was he doing? How was he even making it from point A to point B? A few miles down the road I passed by him and he waved to me as if everything was alright. At that moment I realized that what they say must be true. Ignorance is bliss.

That other driver was an accident waiting to happen.I would have said can't you read get your ### over in the right lane.Sad and disturbing thing is there is thousands upon thousands of drivers just like him.Does'nt anybody read signs anymore.Maybe they should paint them neon colors.

Doesn't matter what colour they are, no body knows how to pay attention.....around here they're neon orange, but idiots still run the lane till it ends and force their way in....

That was my thinking. As I was reading so many signs saying the same thing over and over,.. getting annoyed,.. but then when that guy asked me why the traffic was backed up,.. it kind of tweaked a nerve.

How can you be so oblivious while out on the road? We are supposed to be professionals. CB radio or not,.. being attentive and alert to your surroundings is part of the job.

Then the smiling wave to me as I passed. If dare make the accusation that he could have been stoned or just mentally not there.

Not enough asphalt driver,.. too many cars and not enough lanes.

The inability to manage a double merge had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Maybe he just got on between the last sign and the backup.
