Thank you for putting the information out there Rerun. What people do with the information is there business. If they choose to fail to heed it, their driving days will be over soon enough. The whole industry is changing. The new drivers are going to be doing it right as they are taught by professionals as opposed to ole uncledaddy whose best teaching technique was to cuss his protege out when he screwed up and was silent when he 'done good'.
Empty trailers take longer to STOP

You may want to switch brushes... that one seems overly broad.scottied67 and Hammer166 Thank this.
-
LMAO! That just ain't right, Truck Driver....
-
This whole thing loses a bit of credibility when the one putting it forward is at a school, has access to the trucks, could run these tests himself, but chooses not to and points to books written by other people who may or may not have performed any tests or done any testing properly.
-
And totally ignores a link put up by Boardman that disproves his premise...
-
You mean whatever the "book" says you're going to teach it even if your experience knows different? Why are you needed when the students can just read the book and watch the videos?Hammer166 and Freebird135 Thank this.

The problem is, if he teaches the students what everybody here is arguing, and they go against what the book, the LAW, states, they will get it wrong. Better judgement says only tell them what the law wants them to hear. Tell them any different and some how, they will screw it up. I mean, theyre all idiots anyhow according to you 'experienced' guys, right?Rerun8963 Thanks this.

I remember the first time I ever thought about how long it would take me to stop with a loaded trailer vs an empty one. I was driving in a very heavy rain storm empty with a flatbed. I saw a wall of brake lights in the distance. For some reason I remembered it would probably take me longer to stop than if I was loaded.
Obviously a unique circumstance comparing the 2, but it helped me.
Does it really matter what a book or test says?
The one instance where it`s true may save a life.
People will figure it out on their own, and that can`t be taught

I look at it this way...
Ever see a pick up truck lock up the brakes and the rear end bounces?
Same principle. The less weight on the wheels the less traction.
I've seen more than one empty trailer bounce all over the #### road when the driver has to lock up the brakes.Rerun8963 and scottied67 Thank this. -
uh...you need to go back and re-read that link...OEM brakes as it states will still take longer to stop....with the MSQR-5000 (installed), there was what, a 14% shorter stopping distance for the empty trailers..?? thusly, it did not disprove what the books, videos, and most IMPORTANTLY, what they want to hear when you go to take the CDL permit tests....tell them something differently, and a person NEEDING that permit fails....
you GOT to REMEMBER those books and videos are not going to be up to speed on information, and neither is ANY state DMV (if any DMV was up to speed, why do we still wait hours in line?) ..go back to the links i provided....they say, "empty takes longer to stop"....dispute all you want, you got your license....others needing that permit, had better answer it the way the state WANTS TO HEAR IT...scottied67 Thanks this.
