It's a big problem. They get leased and put on extended interval services and that just screws the trucks over for the future. That's what really gives new trucks the reputation for being junk. You can't expect to do 50,000 mile oil changes and grease jobs and not expect the things to fall apart no matter how well they're built.

I put just over 100k on a 2018 that had 233k when I got it, and the only breakdown has been for a tire this past week. Got an airbag, too but the lease company got me in to fix that up.
I idle alot. -
We get extended on ours just because it helps the resale. But we're in a niche market, too.

I'm still waiting for someone to ask me about my truck emissions for years now. It's reg in Montana but I run out of Cali every week, in fact, I live in SoCal. Carb has no authority and the DOT says it's not their job during an inspection. EPA and CARB are not LEO and no authority stop and inspect anything period. Like Nancy Reagan said just say no you are not touching my truck.
kuzima93, BoxCarKidd, TheLoadOut and 2 others Thank this. -
When CARB is set up either at the scales or a busy random commercial area, they will have a “LEO” with them, the “LEO” will direct you to stop and point you to CARB’s set up area.

Regarding your plates being out of state, your allowed only certain amount of miles with a”permit” if I remember correctly a year or one time to get in and out of California. Many push there luck and just run in and out of California, best chances to take is late night/early morning. But lately I haven’t seen them period and I’m guessing cuz of the BS COVID.

I was running westbound over Donner Pass, passing the Gold Run rest area. Saw a couple of CHP officers in there rousting drivers up. I don't know for sure but I'm guessing it was to make them shut their trucks off if they had been idling more than 5 minutes.

I thought that if you have the Clean Idle sticker on your truck you are allowed to idle. In California anyway. I have heard of other states that don't recognize that sticker.Diesel Dave and scottied67 Thank this.

I probably shouldn't have even added my comment because I really don't know for sure what the CHP was doing in the rest area at the 5am hour. For all I know they could have been handing out lottery scratchers to the parked truckers. : - )magoo68, Diesel Dave and kemosabi49 Thank this.

In New Jersey you can’t idle period (more than 5 mins). The governor even tried passing something about enforcing it on the 4 wheelers I haven’t heard much about it after winter but I’m guessing they’re going to have another go come winter again when everyone’s warming up their cars.
