Curious to know if anyone out there hauls horses and if there's actually a market for it. . . Cut and dry pretty simple. Thanks

Horse trucks (equine haulers) all over Kentucky every day. Somebody's making a living at it.
Where are you? You might want to be where the horses are.Badmon Thanks this. -
Palaminos only. Cuz any palamino is a pal of mine oh.

Hauling horse is a very tight and special group. Years ago I worked vehicle maintenance for a board and breeding ranch. The cheap 10 stall barn was 8 million to build. Always 70 degrees in that barn, could never hear the HVAC run, bothered the horses you know. Anyway they had a few “authorized “ transportation outfits. The insurance alone would stagger the mind. Multimillion dollar coverages.
Is there a market, yes. Will it be easy to get into, no. Could you, sure. Won’t be cheap. It will take a lot of work. The money is in breeders and show animals. -
I live in Atlanta

If you take a drive up through Kentucky on any interstate you'll see the horse trailers (semi-trailers) moving them. Write down some names. I'm sure Google works well too. Just got to do some research on it but I'm pretty sure Expressolane's advice above is accurate.
Badmon Thanks this. -
Well the multimillion dollar coverage is a myth. The insured value of a horse, transported by a commercial hauler will in most cases not exceed 5000 USD. If the shipper wants to insure the horse for a higher value,
he has to provide the insurance himself.
And yes - this applies also to triple crown winners.Badmon Thanks this. -
Is this confirmed with facts?
-
Absolutely. I am holding in my hand a BOL from Sallee Horse Van Inc, a leading horse hauler in the industry.
It states in capital letters and red ink: THE AGREED VALUE OF THE PROPERTY IS HEREBY SPECIFICALLY STATED BY THE SHIPPER INDIVIDUALLY OR BY THE SHIPPER'S AGENT SIGNING ON SHIPPER'S BEHALF NOT TO EXCEED $5000 PER ANIMAL UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE HEREIN.
The transported horse was sold at the Keeneland November sales auction yesterday in Lexington, KY
for a little over 2 Million.
Most commercial horse haulers i know insure horses for a property value between USD 1500 - 3000.Blackshack46 Thanks this. -
That makes zero sense from the shippers agents standpoint. If a carrier rolls over and kills a million dollar horse, they are only insured to 5k?
A pallet of toilet paper probably goes for more than that....
